Porting VR game - The American Dream - from PSVR to Oculus Quest 1 & 2

ABOUT THE GAME

The American Dream is a satirical VR trip game, where every player’s need is solved by using guns. The game was created by Australian studio Samurai Pank in 2018.

KNIGHTS’ TASKS

Knights made a classic port from PSVR to Oculus Quest 1 and 2. Working on this project included custom shading (color grading optimization), a lot of work on baking improvement, levels redesign (due to a large number of polygons) and graphic assets optimization (lowering the number of vertices, developing LOD versions of some models). Apart from that, we dealt with the implementation of the oculus functions like achievements and cloud saves. We also worked on increasing FPS, bug fixing, and precertification.

The entire porting lasted about 5 months engaging 2 developers, 2 QA specialists and one 3D artist.
